Licensed Roadworthy Inspections in Tullamarine
A Roadworthy Certificate (RWC) is required in Victoria whenever you sell a registered vehicle, re-register one that's been off the road, or clear a defect notice. The inspection must be done by a Licensed Vehicle Tester — and we are one. We hold the licence for the workshop at 6 Garden Dr, and we issue certificates electronically through VicRoads' system.
The inspection covers safety-critical items only — it's not a mechanical condition report (that's a pre-purchase inspection, which we also do separately). RWC items: brakes function and condition, steering and suspension, tyres and wheels, seats and seatbelts, lights and reflectors, windscreen and glass, body and structure, fuel system and exhaust, wheel alignment for major faults, and identification details. We follow the VicRoads Vehicle Standards Information manual exactly.
Most cars from Tullamarine, Gladstone Park, Westmeadows, Airport West and the wider north-west pass first time. If yours doesn't, we'll give you a written list of what failed and what it needs, and we can usually quote and complete the repairs on-site without you needing to take it elsewhere. What We Check on a Roadworthy
Every item on the VicRoads roadworthy checklist, inspected by a licensed Victorian Vehicle Tester at our Tullamarine workshop. Pass or fail, you get a clear report.
Tyres & Wheels
Tread depth measured against the 1.5mm minimum, sidewalls checked for cracks and bulges, wheels inspected for buckles or cracks. Pressures set to placard spec before the road test.
Brakes & Handbrake
Pad and rotor thickness measured, lines and hoses checked for leaks or corrosion, pedal feel tested. Handbrake adjusted to hold the car on a hill — VicRoads won't pass a soft park brake.
Steering & Suspension
Tie rods, ball joints, control arm bushes and shocks checked for play, leaks, and wear. Steering box and rack inspected for slop. Anything past spec is flagged on the rejection sheet.
Lights & Reflectors
Headlights aimed and tested on low and high beam, indicators, brake lights, reverse, plate light and reflectors all checked. Cloudy lenses that cut output below spec won't pass.
Seatbelts & Glass
Belts checked for fraying, retractor function and buckle latch. Windscreen scanned for chips and cracks in the driver swept area — anything in the line of sight is a fail.
Body, Chassis & Exhaust
Structural rust in chassis rails, sills and mounting points is an automatic fail — we check it properly. Exhaust inspected for leaks and excessive noise, body panels for sharp edges or insecure fitment.
