Clutch Repair Tullamarine
Slipping pedal, judder on take-off, or struggling to find gears? We diagnose and replace clutches for all manual transmissions at our 6 Garden Drive workshop.
Clutch Repair and Replacement in Tullamarine
A worn clutch is one of those repairs you can put off for a while and then suddenly can't. The clutch in a manual car is a wear part — typically 100,000–200,000 km depending on how it's been driven — but the symptoms creep in gradually: a higher pedal bite point, a slight slip under heavy throttle, judder when pulling away on a hill.
At 6 Garden Dr we get a lot of clutch jobs from Tullamarine, Westmeadows, Gladstone Park and the wider north-west — daily-driver Hyundais and Toyotas, performance Subarus and VWs, work utes that never miss a day. We always diagnose before quoting. Sometimes the slip is a hydraulic problem, not a worn friction disc. Sometimes the judder is a warped flywheel that needs machining or replacing alongside the clutch. We tell you exactly what we find.
We use OEM or OEM-equivalent clutch kits, replace the release bearing and pilot bearing as standard, inspect the flywheel and rear main seal while the gearbox is out, and bleed the hydraulics properly. Full job typically a full day. 12-month warranty on parts and labour.
What's Included in Every Car Service
Every clutch job at our Tullamarine workshop starts with an honest diagnosis — sometimes it's the clutch, sometimes it's the master or slave cylinder, sometimes it's the flywheel.
Clutch Repairs We Handle
Slipping under load, dragging at idle, or a pedal that goes to the floor — every part of the clutch assembly, diagnosed and replaced at our Tullamarine workshop.
Clutch Disc & Pressure Plate
Slipping when you accelerate uphill or tow? Disc friction material measured, pressure plate diaphragm checked for cracks. Full kit replacement with quality components — we do not cheap out on the part that lives between the engine and gearbox.
Flywheel Machining
Flywheel inspected for heat spots, scoring, and warping while the gearbox is out. Machined back to flat where there's enough material — replaced only when it's past minimum thickness. Dual-mass flywheels checked for excessive play.
Release & Pilot Bearings
Release bearing and pilot bearing replaced as a matter of course during any clutch job — they're cheap parts that fail noisily and you don't want to drop the gearbox twice. Concentric slave cylinders done at the same time.
Hydraulics & Master Cylinder
Spongy pedal or pedal sinking to the floor points to master or slave cylinder seals. We bleed the system, test for internal bypass, and rebuild or replace the cylinders. New clutch fluid every time.
Cable & Linkage Adjustment
Cable-operated clutches checked for stretch, fraying, and seized housings. Free-play adjusted to spec so the clutch fully engages and fully releases — stops premature wear and grinding into gears.
Diagnosis & Test Drive
Before pulling anything apart we confirm it's the clutch and not a gearbox synchro, engine mount, or hydraulic issue. After fitment, full road test through every gear and a hill hold check before you pick the car up.
